Gulshan Rai IRS, a former Joint Commissioner of (Indian) Customs and Central is a Yachtman, who has circumnavigated the globe. For his ingenuity, skill and daredevilry in sailing the oceans, he was conferred the distinguished title of PADMA SHRI and was subsequently awarded ARJUNA Award by the President of India. The Admiral of the elite Ocean Cruising Club of England awarded him the prestigious Barton Cup and the Admiral of Indian Navy presented him with the Yachtman-of-the-year award.

He has authored four books on Yachting: ‘Breeze in the Sails’, ‘From Southampton to Bombay’, ‘Sailing Around the World’ and ‘History of the Royal Bombay Yacht Club’.

Shri. Rahul Singh, Appraising Officer, Mumbai Customs is currently Coach of All India Customs and Central Excise Team and also Coach of Central Secretariat Team in Sr National Event 2016, Coach of Pune Strykers in the World Series Hockey, 2011. He also acted as the Coach of Mumbai team in MCC event at Chennai 2016.

He captained the India team in Panasonic Cup, Hamburg, Germany 1998, Panasonic Cup, Hamburg, Germany, 1997 and Pre-Olympic Six nation Tournament, Atlanta, 1996 (Runner’s Up). He was part of Indian Contingent in Olympic Games, Atlanta, 1996 and Champions’ Trophy, Madras, India 1996.

NIMESH DESAI,Superintendent, Mumbai Customs is an ace athlete, specialist in Shot Put, Discuss Throw & Hammer Throw. Following are his major achievement:

Won Gold Medal in Shot put and Bronze medal in Discuss Throw at 20th Asian Masters Championship held at Rugao, China in September 2017.

Won 2 Gold Medals in Shot Put and Discuss Throw at 19th Asian Masters held at Singapore in the year 2016.

Won Bronze Medal in Shot Put at 18th Asian Masters held at Kitakami, Japan in the year 2013-14.

Won a Gold Medals in Masters Athletics Championship held across various locations in India during the period from 2014 to 2016.

Successfully participated in 20th, 21st and 22nd World Masters Athletics Championships during the years 2013, 2015 and 2016 and brought laurels to the nation.

COSTAO FERNANDES,a veteran is Retired Superintendent, Mumbai Customs. He has been an athlete of international repute. Following are his major achievement:

Won Gold Medal in 4x400 Mtr. relay and Silver Medal in 4x100M relay at the 18th Asia Masters held at Kitakami in Japan.

Won Silver Medal in 100M Hurdles & 400M Hurdles at National Masters Athletics Championship, 2014 held at Coimbatore.

Won Silver Medal in 400 Mtr. hurdles and Bronze Medal in 4x100 Mtr. relay at 17th Asian Masters meet held in Taiwan in the year 2012.

Anju Bobby George,Superintendent at Chennai Customs is a reputed International Athlete and an Olympian. Following are her major achievement:

She made history by winning the Bronze Medal in Long Jump at the World Athletics Championships, 2003 held at Paris. With this achievement, she became the first Indian athlete ever to win a medal in a World Championships in Athletics with a jump of 6.70 m.

Won Gold medal at IAAF World Athletics Final in 2005.

She was conferred Arjuna Award in 2002.

Tumpara Naresh,is Excise Inspector at Hyderabad Central Excise. He is a reputed Volleyball player. Following are his major achievement:

Represented India in the 7th Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship, held at Colombo (Sri Lanka) in the year 2008 and won the Bronze medal.

Represented India in the 6th Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship, held at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) in the year 2007 and won the Silver medal.

Represented India in various National and International Volleyball Tournament and brought laurels to the Nation.
